ADMISSIONS POLICY

Every parent has a legal duty to ensure that every child of compulsory school age receives full time education suitable to her/his age, ability and aptitude.

Our admissions arrangements are as follows:

(a) Children born between 1 September and 31 August inclusive may commence full-time education in the September before their fifth birthday.

(b) The school aims to enable children to become full time as soon as practical, and certainly within the month of September. These arrangements are designed to ensure a happy and successful start to school for this much younger group of children.

The school operates an inclusionist approach when considering the admission of special educational needs pupils or those who may be disabled. The criteria adopted is the same as for other pupils, with the proviso that the Headteacher and Governors reserve the right to request the formal assessment of such a pupil, prior to admission, to ensure the child's needs can be successfully met by the school.

The school will contact parents early each Spring Term informing them of the detailed arrangements for Admissions including the North Yorkshire County Council preference scheme.
