Welcome to our Year 1 page - Mrs Trotter

Dance Festival
Our Class participated in a local Dance Festival at Sherburn High School.
We did two dances. disabledscript=3>

The 2nd dance was a re-telling of Jack & the Beanstalk.
We watched other schools perform their dances before we performed ours for them.
A most enjoyable morning!

Chinese New Year
Our class celebrated the Chinese New Year in February. We learnt about traditions and stories related to the celebration.
We learnt to write 'Happy Chinese New Year' - Hei Fat Choi
Finally, we had a Chinese New Year party with real chinese food.

Playgrounds
For our design & technology project this term we have been finding out how playground equipment works.

For this, we visited our local playground to explore the equipment.
Then we had to design our own playground equipment and make it.

As part of our 'Toys' topic, KS1 and Early Years participated in a speical 'Puppet Day' funded by the Friends of Hungate.

David, the puppetman brought in is huge collection of puppets for us to use.

Everyone had their own puppet and we were shown how to give them character, using voices, expression and movement.

We used different types of puppets including hand puppets, puppets with arms and story puppets.

Everyone had great fun and thoroughly enjoyed the day!

We had to practise making the puppets talk to us in different voices!

Look at Maxine demonstrating her skill!
